Charity Foundation EKKLESIA

For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in... I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me... (Mathew 25: 35,36)

The aspiration of the Ekklesia Charity Foundation is to help and support the poor and suffering people, whose life for some reason is hard and difficult. The workers of the foundation follow the principles of Christian morality in their work.

The founder of the foundation Larissa Cherkaskaya has herself experienced charity: in 1993, the life of her 3-months-old grandson was saved in Germany. Almost all amount of DEM 45000 needed for the surgery was donated by German people. At that time Larissa met Hilda and Gerd Bessel who had been collecting charity and provided humanitarian aid to Klaipeda city for several years. It was not difficult to find people who needed the help most. The charity shipments were being sent regularly.

The news about opportunity to get help spread around among all the people in need big families, pensioners, disabled people. The telephone was ringing all the time. Then we dicided to register a foundation in order to expand the possibilities to help people.

In 1997 the Ekklesia Charity Foundation was registered; in the same year,  comapny Svebas provided 150 sq. m room in the Vilnius down town free of charge. Relations  with German, Danish and Northern Ireland charity organizations had been established and maintained.
